A member of Carter Jonas was Lead Consents Officer for the North West Coast Connections, a project to connect a new nuclear power station on the west coast of Cumbria to the national grid, with approximately 140 km of OHL, 22 km of tunnelling and 15 km of underground cable as well as removing up to 150 km of the 132kV network, all within some of the most cherished landscapes in the country.
The team member led an internal team of three Consents Officers and managed numerous external environmental service providers to deliver a challenging message and undertake a significant EIA. The scope also included the need to deliver and co-ordinate timely advice to construction Project Managers and other relevant departments such as Legal, Communications, and Engineering.
The role was also the single point of contact with key stakeholders such as the specifically organised Stakeholder Reference Group, PPA group (all Local Authorities in Cumbia and Lancashire affected by the proposals).
The projected value of the project is £2.8 billion.
