The wider project involved the demolition of existing redundant stores, change of use of a builder’s yard and redevelopment of quarry site to provide 43 dwellings, 14 of which were affordable.
Our professionals were appointed to manage the production of a new Environment Statement, which including additional technical reports, following a request from the Planning Inspectorates under Regulation 22 of the EIA Regulations. Essentially, we were asked to correct the deficiencies of the previously submitted EIA, which was produced by a different consultancy firm.
Though small, the site was located within an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) and was a site of special scientific interest (SSSI). It was also adjacent to Alde-Ore Estuary, which is a designated SSSI, special protection area and Ramsar.
Despite further scrutiny from the Planning Inspectorates and local objector groups throughout the inquiry, the updated Environment Statement produced by our professionals was found to comply with EIA Regulations and accepted as part of the appeal pack.
