Our professionals were instructed by a private client who was in the process of purchasing a steel-framed building with permission for conversion into a bespoke dwelling of approximately 4,000 sq ft.
We were appointed as project manager to manage the delivery of the design and construction of the building conversion. We assembled a design team including Andrew Firebrace Partnership Engineers and Nicholas Tye Architects.
The initial task was to commission specialist surveys and let an enabling package following which we competitively tendered and managed a main construction package with RG Carter appointed as the contractor.
The project design included zinc roof sheeting, burnt larch wall cladding, solar panels and a ground and air source heat pump as primary fuel source delivering warmth to the hot water and an underfloor heating system.
After the project was completed, the client outlined:
"When we embarked on this barn conversion, we were advised by an experienced friend that we should hire our own project manager and pointed us towards Carter Jonas. It turned out that this was the most valuable advice we could have received. From day one up to the very point of handover by the builder, the professionals at Carter Jonas guided us step by step through this intricate process in a thoroughly conscientious, professional and thoughtful manner. Their presence defused any stressful moments and made the project an enjoyable experience for us."
