Wex’s new, modern, state-of-the-art store has been expertly fitted out and is prominently located on Upper Richmond Road, between Putney Train Station and East Putney Underground at the junction with Putney High Street. Nearby occupiers include Pure Gym, Toolstation, Nando’s, Pizza Express, Itsu, and Tesco.
Wex is the UK’s largest camera specialist dedicated to service, expertise and customer satisfaction. In 2022, as part of its expansion strategy, it appointed Carter Jonas’ Retail team to find new outlets across the country. Wex is driving investment in its physical presence to support its online offering. Putney is its third site to open over the last 12 months, following new stores in Cambridge and Nottingham, with a relocation in Edinburgh close to completion.
In total Wex has opened six stores since 2020 and it is planning seven more by 2025. Carter Jonas’ team is searching for these additional outlets and interested in sites of between 2,500- 4,000 sq ft, at prominent, edge-of-town centre, arterial routes and busy suburban locations that provide good visibility and access to parking on-site or very close. Whilst various locations would be considered, target locations include Cardiff, Liverpool, Reading and Sheffield.
Stuart Williams, Partner, Commercial, Carter Jonas, said: “Wex's team is dedicated to assisting its customers at every step, as evidenced by its ongoing investment in physical stores in addition to its digital platforms. After working with the team for over 18 months now, it is satisfying to see the positive results of this approach. By prioritising exceptional customer service across various channels, including brick-and-mortar outlets, Wex has been successful in maintaining brand recognition and growth, while also ensuring superior levels of service to more than a million photographers and videographers.
“As we continue to support the Wex team with this unified strategy, we look forward to engaging with property owners in the target areas and announcing additional store openings over the next 12 months.”
Founded in 1997, Wex offers more than 28,000 products, the largest range of any UK photo and video retailer for both new and used products. It is the winner of many accolades, including ‘Retailer of the Year’, as voted for by readers of Digital Photo/Practical Photography magazines for the past six years, plus numerous other service and content awards.
