On behalf of CEG, the Oxford Planning Team has secured outline planning permission for up to 900 houses on a 130 acre agricultural site north of Abingdon-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. The application also includes a local centre, a new primary school, a doctor’s surgery, sports pitches, public open space, and 35% affordable housing.
The Vale of White Horse District Council unanimously approved the plans in July 2017, subject to the completion of a S106 Agreement.
Carter Jonas secured the permission in a very short timescale after ensuring the site was released from Green Belt and allocated in the Vale of White Horse Local Plan. The development, along with other schemes being promoted through the Local Plan, will make a significant contribution to the ‘diamond interchange’ at Lodge Hill to which the Government has pledged an additional £9 million.
CEG and Carter Jonas began working with Officers at Vale of White Horse District Council and Oxfordshire County Council in late 2014, to support allocation of the site in the Vale of White Horse Local Plan Part 1 (adopted December 2016). The planning application was informed by extensive pre-application consultation with local residents and other stakeholders. This included two rounds of public exhibitions, where over 1,000 residents submitted their feedback.
Carter Jonas, acting on behalf of the landowners and CEG, are now marketing three initial parcels of the site, which together should deliver around 400 of the approved dwellings.
